Michael Groves heard the call of God whilst at University in Australia when he was 20. He obtained his Ph.D. in Biophysics from Flinders University, South Australia. His wife Shirley was a science teacher but left formal teaching to raise our two children. Michael’s first position was in Germany as a “Guest Research Scientist” and then on to the USA where he worked in a variety of medical companies that led finally to international sales and marketing.
Michael was privileged to be discipled by a young couple who went on to be missionaries in Indonesia. This gave both Michael and Shirley a heart for missions. His theological training has mainly been through the local church, reading, and completing a Graduate Diploma of Divinity. Michael is a Ruling Elder at a PCA church where he has focussed on leading Bible studies and men’s discipleship. He also has been blessed to be trained in Evangelism Explosion and Christianity Explored. Outreach is a major focus of all his ministry involvement.
Shirley’s current main focus is teaching ESL to those who are beginners in English, and she has also taught ESL in Bangladesh to school teachers.
Michael’s desire is to use the gifts God has entrusted to him to encourage those ministering in areas where there are few Biblical teachers, by coming along side them providing detailed theological teaching and encouragement for a deeper knowledge and worship of our God. Michael has taught 1 week long courses in Bangladesh to Muslim converts and seekers on topics such as the Trinity, Atonement and Adoption. He has also taught in Malaysia on a “Scientists View of Creation”.
